I went to my first appointment today since I was 5. They found one deep cavity and like 11 smaller ones. I am due to go back the 22nd. Do they hurt when they are being filled? What should I do to prepare myself for the cavity filling? The receptionist did not give any instructions on preparing so I presume there is nothing out of the ordinary. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Will the cavities hurt for a time after they are filled? Thanks....

They will numb you before they give you the shot to numb you more. You will probably have all filled in one day if they are on the same side of your mouth. Sometime they will do one side and then the other side a different day just so you are not too numb. There is nothing you have to do to prepare. They numb you so well you will not feel a thing. Dont stress and stay calm. It wont hurt a bit!
